In this edition of Quick Pours, we’re going to share with you how to make a very simple drink that’s making a huge comeback. In this video, Haskell’s President Ted Farrell shares his favorite Moscow Mule recipe to make - a simple, light, and refreshing drink to enjoy any time of year.
The Moscow Mule was invented in 1941 by the president of G.F. Heublein Brothers, Inc., who just secured the importation contract of Smirnoff Vodka. A friend of his, who owned a food and liquor distributor called The Cock and Bull, had a shipment of ginger beer coming into New York at the time and the two of them got together, put their two ingredients together, and the rest is history.
This Quick Pour walks you through the simple steps of making the perfect Moscow Mule using spud vodka. But before you begin, you need the famous copper mug. The copper mug tradition began at the same time the Moscow Mule was born. The owner of The Cock and Bull had an abundance of copper mugs at the time and thought they would add a uniqueness to the drink. Along with the mug, you'll want to gather your three ingredients; vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice.
Then, enjoy!
