Made in MN: Third Street Brewhouse

Cold Spring, Minnesota has a long history with beer. This Stearns County community has been creating beer for the public since 1874 — thanks to the early German settlers who brought their love and knowledge of beer with them. 

It’s past and present have now melded in the Third Street Brewhouse. Beer production at the storied Cold Spring Brewing Co. was rebranded as Third Street in 2011. The Third Street Brewhouse features a beautiful, brand new taproom (now offering growlers). 

But let’s get to the main event – the beer:

• MN Gold Lager
  It’s a classic premium lager. Crisp, clean taste, made with Minnesota water. 4.9% ABV 

• Three Way
  A pale ale that’s perfect with your Buffalo wings or burger. 5.2% ABV 

• Lost Trout
  A brown ale to sip while sharing stories about the one that got away. 4.9% ABV 

• Rise to the Top
  A cream ale both men and women love. 4.1% ABV

• Bitter Neighbor
  A black IPA you won’t want to share — which makes you the bad neighbor. It’s dark, frothy, and delicious. 6.5% ABV

• Sugar Shack Maple Stout
  One of Third Street’s most popular season offerings. Available only from November-February. 6.5% ABV 

• Cool Beans
  Imperial Coffee Porter. Using locally roasted coffee beans, they mash up some great brew with this hearty beast. 9.1% ABV

The taproom is open every Friday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Saturdays noon-5:00. Guided tours are free, but you need to make a reservation.
